4. I leave my leasehold farm being Section number three Block Six Maniototo Survey District to my brother Charles Docherty of Gimmerburn in the said Provincial District of Otago Farmer.
5. I also leave to my said brother Charles Docherty all my stock both live and dead and all my household effects and furniture and my farming implements.
6. I give and devise my freehold property being Section Five Block Five Maniototo Survey District unto my Trustees Upon Trust for my nephew Bernard Docherty son of my brother the said Charles Docherty absolutely on his attaining the age of twentyone years.
7. Until my said nephew Bernard Docherty shall attain the age of twentyone years I empower my trustees to lease to any person whether a beneficiary under this my will or not the said freehold property either from year to year or for any term of years not exceeding Seven years at such rent and subject to such covenants conditions and powers as they shall deem expedient And I direct that my trustees shall stand possessed of the net rental or other net income arising from any lease or leases of the said freehold property Upon trust for the maintenance education or advancement in life of my said nephew Bernard Docherty but without being in any way answerable or responsible for the misapplication or non-application thereof.
8. In the event of my said nephew Bernard Docherty dying before he attains the age of twentyone years then I direct my trustees to hold the said freehold property together with the accumulations (if any) of rental or other income therefrom left unexpended in the hands of my trustees at the date of such death Upon trust to sell and divide the same equally among all the other children of my said brother Charles Docherty who being a son or sons attain the age of twentyone years or being a daughter or daughters attain that age or marry under that age.
9. During the minority of any of my nephews and nieces being children of my brother the said Charles Docherty I direct my trustees to stand possessed of the net proceeds of the sale of my said freehold property and the said accumulated income (if any) Upon trust to invest the same in manner authorised by law and to pay and apply the income arising from such investment in or towards the maintenance education and advancement in life of my said nephews and nieces without being in any way answerable or responsible for the misapplication or nonapplication thereof.
10. I bequeath the sum of Forty pounds sterling to the Reverend William Alexander McMullan Roman Catholic Priest at Ranfurly aforesaid for masses for the repose of my soul and for the souls of my father Patrick Docherty my mother Annie Docherty my brothers Phillip Docherty and Bernard Docherty and my sisters Margaret and Annie.
11. I direct my trustees to erect a memorial stone to be suitably inscribed over my grave together with suitable railings and accessories at a cost not exceeding Thirty pounds sterling.
12. I direct my trustees to stand possessed of all the rest and residue of my Estate after paying thereout all my just debts funeral and testamentary expenses death succession and legacy duties and all other expenses in connection with my estate or the winding up thereof or incidental thereto Upon trust to pay thereout the sum of Twenty pounds Sterling to Michael Verdon Roman Catholic Bishop of Dunedin Otago New Zealand for his own use absolutely and to pay the balance of such rest and residue of my Estate to my said brother Charles Docherty for his own use absolutely.

In Witness whereof I have to this my last will and testament set my hand this Eleventh day of April One thousand nine hundred and ten.

CODICIL, 7 Oct 1911:
"This is a Codicil (the first) to the last Will and Testament of me Barbara Docherty of Ranfurly in the Dominion of New Zealand Spinster which will bears date the Eleventh day of April One thousand nine hundred and ten. I revoke the bequest of the sum of Forty Pounds Sterling bequeathed in paragraph numbered 10 of my said will to the Reverend William Alexander McMullan. I revoke the bequest of Twenty pounds Sterling which by paragraph numbered 12 of my said will my Trustees are directed to pay to Michael Verdon. I bequeath the sum of Forty pounds sterling to my brother John Docherty of Gimmerburn Otago New Zealand Farmer. In all other respects I confirm my said will. In Witness whereof I have to this the first codicil to my said will set my hand this seventh day of October One thousand nine hundred and eleven.

PROBATE granted 17 March 1913.
Thus the farm at 140 Barney's Lane is left to her brother Charles Dougherty absolutely, and the farm at 513 Barneys Lane is left to her nephew Ben once he reaches the age of 21: in the event, Chales and Sarah and family lived at 513 Barneys Lane from this time.
